When not out shooting backcountry photos, Peter McIntosh works as a writer for Turner Classic Movies. Peter was first introduced to the camera and was trained in the technical aspects of photography serving a Photographers Mate in the U.S. Navy. But it wasn't until he could apply the science of photography with his love of nature and all things beautiful that Peter's flair with a camera really showed. Calling upon the influences of such noted photographers as Ansel Adams, Frans Lanting and Galen Rowell, as well as his own love for people, the outdoors and his abundant positive energy, Peter is able to capture the images that clearly convey the emotion and character of his subjects.

A fifth generation Atlanta native, Peter now lives in Rabun County

Peter is the principal photographer for Tiger Mountain Vineyards and is the official photographer of the Lake Rabun Association. Peter has been selected by the Georgia Heritage For The Arts to be included their book, "Experience Art, Works by Artists And Authors Of The North Georgia Mountains." In January of 2004, Peter was the cover artist of Rabun’s Laurel Magazine and in May of 2004, Peter was honored with the “Award for Artistic Excellence” at the Celebrate Clayton Festival. In October of 2005, Peter was the featured artist in Points North magazine. Peter’s photos appeared in the Travel Section of the Atlanta Journal / Constitution in Martha Ezzard’s series on the hiking trails of North Georgia. In the summer of 2005, Peter was an “artist in residence” at the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences.

Peter is a contributing artist at the Hambidge Center’s prestigious annual Atlanta auction and many other regional charity events. Through his photography, Peter also supports Georgia Forestwatch, The Chattooga Conservancy, Chattahoochee River Keepers and The Boggs Mountain Animal Shelter.

Currently his photos are on display at the Crawford Gallery in Clayton, the Tiger tail Gallery in Lakemont and at the Frameworks Galley in Atlanta.
